Nélia Bergano
BIOGRAFICAL NOTES
Nélia Alves Bergano is currently a master - candidate in Comparative Studies of Religion, Sociology and Political Science at the Leibnitz University in Hannover/ Germany. She is holding the scholarship in this project, being responsible for the acquisition and the analyses of quantitative and qualitative data and the bibliographic database, as well as for the conception and conduction of inquiries, while also managing the website.
Nélia’s professional experience includes working in the organization of (and during) sports events, such as for the cycling tour “Deutschland Tour 2007” in Germany, or for the Host Broadcast Services during the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany, where she worked as Assistant to Logistic Manager for HBS in Hannover and Frankfurt as well as for TF1 (Télévision Française - French Channel) in Munich and Berlin as Setup - Manager. Furthermore, she worked as Liasion Officer for Hannover 96.
Being herself a case study as luso-descendent in Hameln and Hannover/ Germany, Nélia is interested in questions of belonging, identification and self– perception among Portuguese emigrants, as well as examining Germany as receiving country and its self-perception as a multicultural country with regard to its nationality policies.
